Durante a Game Developers Conference 2009, a Apogee anunciou que Duke Nuken receberá novos jogos para o Nintendo DS e o Playstaion Portable.
Durante o evento foram divulgadas imagens do jogo que ainda está em fase bem inical, algo como um pré-alfa. Neste primeiro episódio chamado de Duke Nuken : Critical Mass, primeiro pois existem planos de criar uma triologia, Duke é enviado ao futuro onde encontra um mundo dominado por alienígenas. Na próxima versão em Duke Nuken : Chain Reaction, o herói volta ao presente para tentar consertar as coisas, e no último, Duke Nuken : Proving Grounds, ele irá parar na Segunda Guerra Mundial (WTF?).
A versão para o Nintendo DS será classificada para jovens (Teen) e será um jogo ao estilo Plataforma em 2D com recursos 3D
A versão para PSP classificada para maiores (Mature) será mais ação e em terceira pessoa (mas com modo 1ª pessoa disponível) e basicamento o mesmo estilo, atira e matar.
O início da nova Triologia de Duken Nuken estará disponível ainda este no final de 2009, prometendo 36 nívies de estágio, e mais de 12 horas de jogabilidade, com trilha sonora completa.
