Após dois grandes sucessos de vendas de Grand Theft Auto para o PSP, a próxima versão de GTA está a caminho do Nintendo DS em Grand Thef Auto : Chinatown Wars.
Em entrevista ao blog da MTV Multiplayer , a companhia encarregada do marketing para o PSP nos Estados Unidos informam que a Sony não vai deixar que GTA fique fora do PSP. John Koller, chefe de marketing do sistema PSP nos Estados Unidos falou por telefone: “Essa é uma franquia tremenda [sobre GTA]. Nós tivemos duas versões que são top de vendas no PSP. Então, definitivamente continuaremos conversando com a RockStar [desenvolvedora de GTA] sobre todas as suas marcas. Não queremos que ela deixe a família PlayStation.”
Koller disse que não pôde recorrer quando descobriu que GTA estava indo para o DS após a PSP Liberty City Stories e Vice City Stories, mas já está conformado sobre isso. “Para ser honesto, a Rockstar tem de gerir seus negócios como bem entenderem. Temos uma ótima parceria com eles. Acabaram de lançar The Lost and the Damned para o 360, então, eles precisam tomar suas próprias decisões de negócios. Mas certamente temos uma tremenda relação com eles e sempre teremos”.
Respeitando GTA : Chinatown Wars, Koller não o vê perfeitamente congruente com o DS, onde a classificação predominantemente é abaixo de 12 anos de idade. “É um lançamento interessante para o DS”, disse Koller, como quem não bota muita fé, “Será interessare ver como serão as vendas”.
A Rockstar Games recusou-se a comentar sobre o assunto.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars está previsto para 17 de Março de 2009 no Nintendo DS. Mas por hora nenhum novo GTA para o PSP foi anunciado. Vamos aguardar por mais novidade.
