A Square-Enix publicou os dados de suas vendas mundiais dos últimos nove meses de 2008, juntamente com as vendas de outros jogos lançados atualmente. Apenas um jogo ultrapassou a marca de um milhão de vendas nesses nove meses: o remake para DS de Dragon Quest V. O remake desenvolvido pela Artepiazza vendeu 1,19 milhões de cópias a partir de Julho à Dezembro de 2008, e atualmente chegam já a 1,45 milhões de cópias mundialmente. Esses números devem aumentar um pouco depois desta semana, quando o jogo for lançado fora do Japão. Sim, DQV lidera as vendas mundiais da empresa sem realmente ter sido lançado fora do Japão, incrível!
Outros jogos top de vendas dos últimos três trimestres de 2008 incluem Dissidia Final Fantasy, que vendeu 780.000 cópias no Japão; Chrono Trigger DS, que vendeu 490.000 no Japão e 220.000 na América do Norte, dando um total de 710.000 cópias vendidas; e Crises Core: Final Fantasy VII, que vendeu 480.000 na Europa, 200.000 na América do Norte, e 20.000 no Japão, dando um total de 700.000 cópias. Pode parecer que os números estão baixos, mas vale lembrar que essas vendas são de Abril à Dezembro de 2008, Dissidia por exemplo já vendeu um total de 1,96 milhões de cópias!
