A Rockstar revelou que Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars está concluído e ganhou data de lançamento para 17 de Março de 2009.
As maiores novidades disponíveis são: Um PDA utilizado pelo personagem Huang Lee, podendo visualizar mini-mapas via satélide da cidade de liberty City, selecionar armas, e receber e-mails. Você poderá também encomendar armas da Ammu-Nation que irá lhe entregar o pacote em sua casa.
Em sua casa você poderá colocar troféus que são obtidos após concluir suas missões. Fazer um quadro com fotos de todos os seus contatos, que lhe permite acesso as missões, que podem ser repetidas e enviadas para um ranking online. Fora isso terá som de ótima qualidade.
Em relação ao combate, o jogo foi cuidadosamente modelado. Miras, linhas e outros recursos são utilizados para facilitar o combate, como por exemplo um arco verde que é desenhado na tela para mostrar a tragetório da granada a ser lançada.
